Braedon introduced Katie from Cdn Blood Services who has been working for them four years - hard to believe with the way in which she delivered her message, her ability to have such a great engaging way to answer questions, and get club participation. A natural speaker about an extremely essential organization to our country. It is truly a biological life line - providing for not just blood but also stem cells and plasma. They manage the entire blood supply for Canada. They employ 2700 full time across Canada with 4100 volunteers - speaking volumes about how our Country very much supports each other. Larry Brokenshire - has now done I believe it is 55 years of consistently donating blood. Since June the blood donations have dropped by 20% and we could as a club consider donating blood as a group or companies can donate - so many ideas to help. Every Tuesday there is a blood clinic at the Armenian Centre in Cambridge. There is a need for blood every 60 seconds - and donated blood lasts for 42 days. An example of how and how much donations are used for - Cancer treatments - approx. 5 units Lukemia - 8 units Brain surgery - 2 units Car accidents - 50+ units Eligibilty requirements were discussed -such as weight, travel, tattoos, heart and medications, women can donate every 84 days whereas men every 62 days.
