Marcus Burca our speaker was ill today. He was going to give a talk about his Ryla experience.

Larry Brokenshire jumped into the breech and became our speaker.

He spoke of his life and Rotary. He was born in 1943 in Hamilton. His dad was an optometrist.

He went to Ryerson Polytech. He joined Nicholls Radke in Cambridge which morphed in to Aecon.

He is at the 54 year mark with Aecon and still on boards and committees that deal with labour relations.

He Joined Rotary in '92. He recalls projects in Preston Park and Dumfries Park. Larry and George Sczepski were arch competitors for selling the most Rotary Roses.

His first Rotary Presidency was '96-97. He had some medical difficulties related to alcohol. He quit and now is 10,000 days sober.

He said one of the high points of his Rotary career is when he led a Rotary Study Exchange to Korea in 2002. The Koreans were amazing and treated the exchange team like family. Larry admits to not making headway with the Korean language.

He married Rozanne in 2008 and was our Rotary President again in 2012-2013.

He has been our very reliable ‘speaker seeker’ for years.
